The
management review is an opportunity for top management
to receive a comprehensive update on environmental matters
at the organization including the significant environmental
aspects; the status of objectives, targets and management
programs; important findings and trends from audits and
monitoring programs; and the performance of EMS in general.
This review allows them to assess the suitability, adequacy,
and effectiveness of the EMS; provide input on the direction
of key initiatives and objectives; and make resource decisions
using accurate information.
At NCCOS
the EMS management review is based on the NOAA standard
(see below) and conducted by the Management Review
Team consisting of the NCCOS Director, Deputy Director and
Center Directors (see Roles and Responsibilities). At least
annually, the EMS Coordinator will present a status report
developed by the EMS team during one of the standing monthly
meetings. In general, it consists of a presentation developed
by the EMS team and presented by the EMS coordinator. Following
this status report management will make recommendations
and
suggestions on the suitability, adequacy, and effectiveness
of the EMS which will be incorporated into the system by
the team.
The following presentation provides some additional background
on the management review process: Background
on the EMS Management Review.
The
NCCOS Management Review is conducted per NCCOS
EMS Standard EMS.015 Management Review.
