The mission of
NOAA Marine and Aviation Operations (NMAO) is to provide the best value
in safe, high quality, ship and aircraft operations and scientific
support to NOAA and the Nation.

s Environmental Commitment
NMAO's management,
employees, and environmental staff are committed to ensuring that the
performance of all NMAO activities and decisions are based on understanding
and consideration for the environment.
NMAO continues
to strive to go beyond compliance. Historically, NMAO has practiced
environmentally friendly operations within the constraints of best
available technology. Currently, NMAO, with support and assistance
from NOAA's Environmental and Safety Division, is working toward implementation
of EPA' s Code of Environmental Management Principles for Federal Agencies
(CEMP). The principles are:

NMAO is also exploring
projects that will advance current best available marine practices. In the
